Spring break field herp trip to Croatan National Forest

No better way to spend a spring break. Field herping with one of my buddies. The first two days it was raining and low 40s which was a blower, but the last day it was mid 70's and the snakes showed up

A couple places we checked out

just some of the finds we got pics of
    plethodon chlorobryonis - slimy salamander

probably saw over 50 green anoles Anolis carolinesis carolinesis

    red bellied snake

two yellow rat snakes a baby and a juvenile Pantherophis obsoletus quadrivittatus

    an eastern box turtle

and I believe this is a cricket frog

I bet, We just love "swamping" , and down there I can imagine you can find swamps almost anywhere, did you guys happen to find any Snappers? I know you guys found the box, which up here in CT is still a treat to find. I was just wondering if you came across anything that you didn't photograph.

Re: Spring break field herp trip to Croatan National Forest

the only other turtles we found we noticed about 100yds out in the last swamp. Other than that we saw nothing in the water except frogs. Like I said it was mid 40's and raining most of the trip, im surprised we found what we did. we did come across a black racer on our way back to the car to drive home. It startled me because all I heard was rattling until I saw it dart under these leaves. It was shaking its tail in the leaf litter. But it escaped down a deep hole under the leaves before I could take a picture.
