First BP and would like your input

ok so i got my first ball python sunday at a reptile show.

here is some info on her
she was born 6-20-08 and she had problems eating out of the egg she only ate 10 times in all of 2008 but she has eaten better in 09 and has eaten 5 times so far in 2009 she is 9 months old and weighs 122g as of sunday. is that ok for her or is that really small for a 9 month old? she is a normal but she has golden sides so the breeder sold her as a hi-yellow sided so i got her for $100. did i get ripped off?

here are some pics of her i took on the way home from the show sunday.

i picked up a mouse from petco yesterday and i tried feeding her she struck at it right away and killed it but it took her a while to eat it because she kept trying to take it from the middle of the mouse or from the butt haha but she got it down and all so thats a good sign! i did take pics of it too i will post them up when i can. but i should feed her again in 5 days right?

    :Welcome:
She will get better at the eating part with more experience, she is on the small side for her age, I would put her on a 5 day feed schedule of appropeiate sized feeders.

You didn't get ripped off if she is worth $100 to you.

    She's a cutie.

I have mine on a seven day feeding schedule, but mine are a bit older & larger. You could probably feed every 7 days, I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

    Oh, and welcome to BP.net

    First off

Secondly that is one hot little BP!

A 4 or 5 day feeding schedule should be fine.

Can you post up some pictures of your enclosure? Also http://ball-pythons.net/modules/Sect...warticle&id=59 this should help some.

What are you using to measure temps and humidity?

All the info you can give us would be great!

again to BPnet make your self at home and ask as many questions as you can come up with!!!!

I second that , I like to keep younger snakes on a 5 day schedule.

    Welcome!
I am also from the Chicago area. I assume you went to the Wheaton show? I will be at the next one

I would start her on a 5 day feeding schedule. She is a bit on the tiny side. I have a 9/08 and she is close to 300grams.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitat to ask! This forum is a great resource to ball python keepers

    Welcome!!!

The only thing I can offer is the care sheet (on the top left will have a link for the care sheet)
I offer to Jakey every 4 days or so, he ate twice a week for the pet store, however we've had him 6 days and last night was the first night he's ate for me after 2 offerings. One member here had GREAT advice KC261, here's a link to the thread http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t=87464&page=2 The pre-scenting is what worked for my little guy!
