    Question Pics of my carpet

When i got this snake a the pet store about 2 months ago they said he was a JCP. After looking at pics of different species of carpets I was curious if he was possibly crossed with anything. Ideas?

    Re: Pics of my carpet

    I like it a LOT.

Most carpets these days have been interbred with with other subspecies.

I can't really tell you what's in there, but if anyone can, I'm voting for Colin Vestrand.

If it's possible to tell anything from those pics i'd put my money on Colin or MPenn being able to answer your question. No matter what you call it, that's a very pretty snake.

    Re: Pics of my carpet

I would say it is majority Jungle with Diamond influence somewhere in the past. The yellow tipping starting to show thru in the makes makes me think there was a Diamond crossed some time back. I dont see much any Coastal or IJ influence. I could be wrong tho....a beautiful snake tho!

When I said Colin would be the one to tell, I knew I was forgetting about someone else on this forum.

He had mentioned to me that he thought there might be diamond in it after he did some research. He is a doll to play with though. Today was tank moving day so I had to help and got to play with Koa (pronounced Kova) a bit today.

Nice looking guy. He's predominantly jungle, possible diamond cross. You have to remember that in the wild carpets aren't as high of a yellow as we have now. We have breed that trait, so tipping can always be because of that. If you got him from a chain store, a lot of those go threw SunPet in ATL and they have a good mix of high end and mid end animals. It's always a gamble.

He got it from a place called Emerald Bay. It is where we ahve purchased our animals from. They are a local exotics store.
