    Question bp not eating...

i am just about at one month owning my female normal. she has not eaten yet and i know that isnt terribly long but...

i was wandering if it isnt breeding season. is it? and could this be a factor?

    Not shedding.
husbandry should be on the money.

    Re: bp not eating...

If she is older and maintaining her weight I wouldn't worry.

Can you tell us about your husbandry/setup?

Honestly that huge tank could be freaking her out. I dunno...what is your humidity set at? What hides are you using? Pictures will help alot.

Are you controlling your heat source with a dimmer or thermostat?
What are you measuring those temps with.

I agree, 40gallons is far to big for any BP. Try switching to a 20gallon long tank instead.

Yes it is breeding season, but she looks no where near ready to breed.

Get a scale and check her weight once a week. If she is loosing weight then you have a problem. I would seriously consider moving her to a smaller tank. That is really huge for a ball python.

    Re: bp not eating...

Mine is eating like a hog right now... Also WHAT hides are you using? Like if you have half logs that might be your problem. Also, are the back and sides of your tank covered with something like a background or still open? If they are still open it will create a very exposed feeling for your animal.
