is coconut fiber ok to use as substrate?

ive got a bp that a friend of mine found in an abandoned apartment. he was there for the better part of 6 months. since then ive been able to get him too eat (only live unfortunatly, but we're working on that ) hes had nothing but bad sheds since ive taken him in. the humidity in the viv is kinda low and i have covered part of it with a damp towel. hes on astro turf right now but i was concidering changing it to coconut fiber, my husband uses this in his scorpion tank and it holds humidity in the tank quite well even when its not "soaking wet", just wondering if i can use it... i have to feed him in the tank as hes not exactly "friendly" and will the coconut fiber cause impaction if accidently ingested?

im new to this site so please be kind

    thankx, Bobbi

the coconut fiber is perfectly fine, and if you want to use it because you have it already go for it. BUT if you are using it because of humidity, I am pretty sure cypress mulch is the best for humidity. Either way youll be fine!

alright thankx everyone, but seeing as i have to feed him in there, is there a danger of impaction? or can they digest the fibers enough to poop them out? like i said hes not a very nice snake at the moment... snaps at everything that moves, encluding me lol. maby in time i can get him to be trusting again. but for now i just want to get him healthy.
