confused about shed
so i thought my bp was going into shed. eyes blue, skin starting to fade...then i look today and he is shiny and eyes are normal..but NO SHED! nowhere to be found at all. Now he did get a little scratch by a mouse when he ate the other day..could that factor into anything?

Re: confused about shed
The skin clears just before shed. You should see him shed sometimes very soon.

Re: confused about shed
He's past the blue stage, and is now in the clear stage. He should shed in 5-7 days...maybe less, it varies from BP to BP.

crap, well i didn't read that thread before, I honestly thought something was wrong because I thought that he was supposed to shed right out of the blue stage. Anyway, I had him out last night for a few minutes bc I was checking him bc I was confused. Did I potentially messup the process?

Re: confused about shed
It'll be fine though be aware that most snakes don't care for much handling during the shed cycle. It's probably not terribly comfortable for them so likely best to just leave them to it. Your job is just making sure the snake's environment is right to encourage a nice, complete shed.

Re: confused about shed
well its true about the clear stage after the blue stage but another thing to look for is. . . when i had my first ball python about 3 years ago i had him go blue then clear i waited about 5 days then no shed, i waited another 5 days still nothing this continued for about 2 weeks then while i was cleanin some poop out i noticed something stickin up from under the substrate i pulled at it and guess what i found . . . it was a long piece of shed turns out the little guy burrowed under the aspen shavings to get the shed off under the substrate and it stayed there burried, i felt a little silly but you learn from experiences
Cheers!
