I tried to feed my snake a mouse last friday night and it didn't take it within the first 45 minutes. The snake has been with me since feb. 20 and the last times it has eaten anything was on 1.30.09 and 2.16.09. The guy I adopted it from said he was feeding it live food and therefore, I decided it would be best to try a live mouse right away until it gets into a regular feeding schedule with me. f/t after that... Anyway, the regular behavior of the snake seems to be hiding all day and active for most of the night, which I know is normal. The two identical hides I have for it might not be the tightest, but they're definitely close enough. They're rectangular and he probably has 3-4 inches from the entrance to where he lays coiled up in the back. I can't seem to find any reason, other than he's still pretty new, to be stressed. Temps are pretty constant: cool side 80-83F/ambient 83-86/warm side 88-92. I know the warm side fluctuates a bit much, but 90% of the time it's +/- 2 degrees @90F. Humidity is always around 50-65%. I did handle him about four times in the first week for about 10-15 minutes each time. The tank is only open on one side, with the rest wrapped with an aquarium background. The only thing I can think of, other than he's still fairly new, is that I have a tv about 4 feet away from the tank. I only watch tv a couple hours at most everyday. Any ideas?
