Opinion on size

Just wanted to know your opinion on his girth according to his age.

he is 22.57" (a little bit shorter then i thought, snake measurer gave me 22.57") and eats like a garbage disposale, always hits his pray like a mac Truck.

ive been feeding him adult mice which are a little bigger then his fattest part. although they some times look to big the tend to be chunky and they just look fatter as he constricts them and shifts there innards.

tell me what you think. what should i move to when aduly mice are too small?



Last nights feeding, funny story too. the mouse they had for me in a container... well the girl in front of me who was buying dog supplies. put it in her bag not knowing and left with it haha. surprise surprise

Jeff, you didn't mention his weight, but I think based on his size compared to the mouse in the pic, large rat pups might be your next size progression. Where I live, I have the luxury of being able to obtain two different sizes of rat pups. The small ones I get are about 22-25 grams each, and the large rat pups I get from a seperate supplier weigh in at 30-38 grams.

If you can find rat pups in the 30ish gram range, I would urge you to shift him over.

thanks and thats exactly what i was thinking. i haven't weighed him at all. i have a scale on order. can you believe no one close has a mail scale or anything to its size that you can tear with a bowl on top. its ridiculous. i also have small and large rat pups available. the ma and pop pet store i go to has a breeder who works there they specialize in snakes. he has some MAD crazy boa's and balls i forgot to mention he is roughly 6 months

I'm glad to hear you have some size options. When you get your scale will you start weighing and recording your prey before you feed? I've done this since the begining, and I think its a very valuable resource for tracking their growth.

yes i do plan to
i already track sheds and feeding dates in general.
