Tub size questions

I found some Sterilite 31 and 40 qt tubs at walmart and im planning on picking one of them up tomorrow but was wondering what size? I'm going to be getting a bp between 7-12months old. I'm just a little worried about fitting a water bowl, and two hides in there. Also my humidity has been around 34ish and im afraid that i might have to have a humid hide in there as well when she begins to shed.

One last question..
Do you think one strip of 4" flexwatt will be enough to keep the tub heated? Its been a little cold here and the temps have been around 60-65* on average when im off to work and at night.

I was also wondering if i set my tub on a board with a layer of this -Click Me! If that would help dissipate the heat threw out the tub? I was originally thinking of putting little feet on the tub to raise it off the board a little but am concerned that the flex watt will cool to quickly, especially if there is a small draft.

Would this be safe?

You can easily go smaller than 31qt..especially for a small one like yours. As for the temps, you might need more flexwatt since it gets so cold!

That would help radiate the heat into the tub instead of onto the surface the tub is on.
Instead of getting flexwatt, you could just order an ultratherm heatpad. Just a thought.

Would that be better than flexwatt? I know a lot of people on here use both, i though id go with flexwatt for the cost and ive heard that on on those pads they can get hotspots in them??

Well, If you are only getting one snake, I would just get a heat pad. They aren't much different in price than the flexwatt (after you figure in wiring). Flexwatt could also have hotspots if wired wrong. I think flexwatt is more economical if you have to heat a rack or need to heat a few tubs. for just one tub, you might as well get a heat pad. It will cover more surface area and you don't have to worry about wiring and all that jazz.

What brands would you recomend for a UTH? (i tried the search button and for some reason nothing comes up....)

I was looking at the Zoo Med UTH but saw too manythings about short outs on them.

reptile basics has some ultratherm heat pads, I have heard those are pretty good. I have used the zoo med ones and have not had problems.
