    Getting Closer, I think.....

Alright guys, what do you think? I have about 15 new animals I need to get pics of this weekend, and I am trying to get my pics a little closer to where they need to be before putting up a picture thread with a bunch of bad pics of cool animals. I tried a little different setup with the camera today and took a couple pics of my new Bumblebee male to see how it turned out, I got the best one below, what do you guys think? Any suggestions for improvement?

I stink at taking pictures so I can't offer any help there (I think the pic is good) but I can say your bumblebee is VERY, VERY nice looking

Thats what I have been trying to do, not sure what I am doing wrong but every pic I took had one part of the snake out of focus. Thanks for the input.

Here is a picture I just shot of my new Ghost female. I will be retaking pics of all the newbies once I get the pictures a little closer to where they should be.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT DSLR, and I am clueless, how do I raise the aperture and what does it do to the pictures?

I have a cannon Xsi which is almost the same camera. You probally have a setting Av(Aperture value) on the dial.Set it to that and try and snap some pics. You could also need more light.Do you have a light tent or homemade light box?

I do have that setting and I will try that tomorrow, these pics did not use any light box or tent at all, and just room lighting.

You really need more lighting to get the pics you are looking for.Google homemade light box and you can find a way to make one for cheap.Once you get a pretty good feeling for this you may want to consider getting a Macro lense,If you didnt blow all your money on snakes...
