    Snake in frozen water bowl.........

Every seen a wild snake(chicken snake) in a frozen water bowl? The guy I buy most of my feeder mice from was given a snake in a 10 gallon tank over last weekend and the water was frozen in the bowl and to top it off, the snake was half in the bowl. The snake is alive and well. I couldn't believe it! Are these animals really that hardy?

    Hi,

    Cool.

I remember watching a television show that showed both a garter snake and a european viper ( er viper berrus I think ) being frozen and thawing out then seeming to show no ill effects. Totally blew my tiny mind.

No kidding, ive seen eels completely frozen, come back to life. so i can imagine this too.

They were being used for food, and my boyfriends grandmother had them thawing in the sink.... all of a sudden ( quite a while later when they were thaw) i saw one move!! I was so creeped out.... LOL

Well I heard it from another guy...and my first thought was total bs. Then I went over to buy some feeder mice and saw the animal and asked about it. Said a guy up the road had caught it and kept it in a ten gallon tank and he was fine until a few weeks ago while he was gone his main breaker tripped. The guy came home to busted pipes and a snake in ice. He ended up giving the animal away thinking it wouldn't live after that. He is alive and well. Blew my mind.

    Update

Held the snake the other day, he is fine. I still can't believe he could live through that and not have any lasting effects.

Re: Snake in frozen water bowl.........

MY friend ( Who was being an idiot) was "attacked" by a cotton mouth/ she was working near the snakes habitat and she saw it decided to kill it. So she froze it, played with the frozen body and then she said when it unfroze it slowly started to move and then recovered. Then she tried to drown it, and then she tried to gas it. Then she fed it? Anyways something in wild snakes diet can keep them alive through anything LOL. She felt bad for it so after all that she went and relocated it. She has no experience in HOTs so im just surprised she did not get bit let alone fail at killing the poor thing.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat
