Patsy's first meal with us.. (pic heavy)

Okay guys, I went to the pet store yesterday afternoon and got a fuzzy mouse that was about 1.5 wk old for Patsy's first meal with us. She was 143 grams on Sunday so I'll weigh her on the 15th of next month. Here's some pics of her first meal with us.

Congrats on your first successful feeding! It is always great when they eat.

That fuzzy mouse is a very small meal for that BP. They can take meals that are the width of the widest part of their body. You can see in the pics that the fuzzy was closer to the width of the narrow head & neck. Bump it up a size or two. I think my BPs were eating adult (but not jumbo adult) mice when they were about the same weight.

Looks l like Patsy enjoyed her meal. I agree with Casey though, Patsy could go up in prey size but it never hurts to start small with a new snake and see how it goes. To size a prey for a bp just compare her largest empty girth (not full of food or poop) to the largest girth of the prey item (for rodents that's their hips and butt area) and you're good to go.

    Congrats on the successful feeding.

Thanks and it was an experience. I am very new to feeding such a small little snake so I didn't want to get too big of a feeder and also didn't want to stress her out on her first feeding with us. She will be getting a rat pinky for her next feeding. I want to get her switched to rats and also F/T asap! Thanks for the input, all the advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks so much for your advice and information. I'm so used to feeding my 6 ft boa so trying to pick out a feeder for her wasn't too easy lol. I'm goin to get her a rat pinky for her next feeding which should be perfect. I'm not so good at measuring her little body quite yet but I've been recommended that this should be okay. I want to get her switched to rats and also F/T asap so I was told this was the way to go. And thank you again, any advice is greatly appreciated.

a rat pinky? You can go bigger than that. Get a rat that is the size of an adult mouse.

You think?? I should measure her somehow. Like I said, I'm really new at this sizing game of feeders and I'm horrible at guessing sizes.
