Godaddy issue today
Did anyone else notice the GoDaddy issue today?
I was working on a website that is hosted on GoDaddy. Connection was kicked and then could not connect to any site on GoDaddy, including BPnet and GoDaddy.com.
Though I could connect to any website that was not hosted by GoDaddy at the same time.
While on the phone with GoDaddy Support who claims nothing is ever wrong any time I call them, all GoDaddy sites came back online including BPnet.
Just curious if anyone else noticed the down time?

It wasn't Go Daddy trust me. If Go Daddy had a server crash it would affect a large portion of the internet. It is most likely that your ISP or network had an issue with their servers or were unable to Go Daddy servers. Next time you have an issue try doing a telnet to a godaddy server or website.

Appreciate the recommendation, but I actually did try telnet.
I started with just a straight ping after a dns flush and was getting Resolution but not responses so I tried to connect via telnet and did not recieve a response.

Re: Godaddy issue today
Of course, I'm not the technical end of the team, but I don't "think" that BP.net is registered with GoDaddy (but we might). I know that when I was planning to buy my domain name, I was discouraged against using GoDaddy. When Nate returns, perhaps he can answer that.

Must have been some kind of hiccup with the domain names...it was not a hosting issue because we are most definitely NOT hosted with GoDaddy, however, the domain name was originally registered with GoDaddy.

That's cool.... When I did a WhoIS and NSlookup Ball-Pythons.net came up with a bunch of GoDaddy information as Registrar, Name Servers, ect.

I also thought you guys were hosted by GoDaddy for this same reason.
If some one could help me why should I not go with go daddy? I will be setting up a web page in the next year and I was going to be hosted with godaddy.
Who would you guys suggest I use?
Sorry for hijacking I just figured it kinda fit here since I was going to use godaddy.

There really isn't an issue with go daddy at all. Your going to get the best support for sure. Theres going to be alot of people who talk down about go daddy but they usually do not have a valid reason.

I'm not a techie at all - I just went with the hosting company that most people suggested that I used (and I asked a LOT of people). I'm with 1and1.com for my site registration and hosting. I've been happy with them so far and I am hoping to have my site up in the next few months.

From first hand experience, the hosting was terrible.
No host is perfect. But, I've had my personal web site hosted with 1and1 for probably 7 or so years and I recall about 2 times where I've had to contact tech support for various issues.
I think that for someone that isn't familiar with hosting and how to set things up, the Admin backend for GoDaddy is confusing and clunky. 1and1 is a little more straight forward and newbie friendly.
Don't take my word for it. Shared hosting is dirt cheap. Try both hosts out for a few months and form your own opinion
