how long should it take for a bp to feel comfortable. reason im asking is my baby pastel just hides all day and night never comes out. is there anything i should be worried about or is this just natural behavior

Completely normal. I usually think of hiding as their way of telling me that they are comfortable with their surroundings. She is just fine

Don't forget how they live in the wild. They typically spen 85-90% of their lives in old termite mounds or abandoned rodent burrows. They often will seek prey that wander by their resting place. They are ambush predators, and don't really move alot. As the last poster stated, it probably means that your snake is perfectly happy (especially if it is feeding without issue).

see theres a problem i haven been able to get her to eat since i got her and its been almost to weeks is this ok she is in a new enviroment how long does it normally take for them to settle in

Hi,

Give her a week with minimal interaction then try and offer food.

I try and hold off handling mine a lot untill I am happy they are eating on a good schedule.

so what your saying go another week dont handle her and then try to offer some food what size mouse shes only a baby. i try to get hoppers but the store never has any hoppers. what should i do if she doesn't eat? wait another week??

I just got my new BP hatched in october '08 and I'm feeding him adult mice... what size cage are you keeping it in?

18x12x12 enclosure its really small about the length of her body

That enclosure sounds fine for a baby. But yeah, you could probably be feeding her small-medium mice.

I would feed 7 days after the day that you got her (I think thats what dr. del meant). If she refuses, wait 5 days. just keep on the 5 day schedule until she hits 500 grams, then you can switch to every 7-10 days.

Zombie, think of it this way, a hiding BP is a happy BP. I normally don't start looking for something wrong until they start cruzing the cage a lot. Generally, they are fairly inactive snakes.
