    Corn snake feeding problem.

I have a normal corn and she's a bit bigger then a baby. She has eats 1-2x a week. I tried feeding her today she missed and got a mouth full of eco earth. She spent a while working it out but then she refused the mouse. Do you think she just scared herself and now won't feed normally? when should I try again?

What are your husbandry details. Tell us everything about the cage you have her in, and what your feeding her.

Leave her alone for a week/5days if she refuses a meal before trying again.

Try to gently open her mouth (if you are comfortable with doing it) to check and see if she still has substrate stuck in it. Foreign object caught in between teeth can cause mouth rot.

If she does, take a syringe/eyedropper/ear bulb (whichever you have) and gently rinse her mouth out. She should be able work most of it out by herself.

If all is clear, wait 3-4 days and offer her the mouse again. She probably just upset herself a bit.

Corn snakes are complete guts, I wouldn't except any long term effects from this. She'll probably be back to normal by tomorrow.

Her tank is a 10 g with a heat mat. She had a hid but likes her fake jungle leafs and hinding under the eco earth.I have a water dish for her and spray her tank lightly in the morning to keep her humidity near 60. Her heats at 70-75 at night it can get warmer during the day as the tank sits on a wire shelf that has a heat lamp on during the day right underneath( not higher the 80 on the hot side). She's a usually hungry snake that tends to be seen only at night but you can see patterns under the eco earch so I can tell she does move around and not lathargic.

Next time feed her in a separate container, a gladware container with holes is perfect. This way you don't have to worry about substrate getting stuck or being ingested.

I agree with blueapplepaste. If you are using a wood substrate, feed in a different container.

Personally, I don't use anything but paper towels with any colubrid/lizard under a year or two.
