    Ovulation

I had been questioning if anything was going to happen with my normal female and my 100% het pied normal male. She has become several shades lighter than normal. If you were to show me this snake today without me having seen her become lighter, I would swear she was not mine. Well last night, I had moved all the snake racks into my bedroom and I was going to feed everyone. I started feeding and when I got to Akina's tub, I pulled Xefaud out, I noticed that Akina was HUGE! It looked like she had swallowed a small/medium rat. She hasn't eaten the past two times I've offered so this is definitely an ovulation.

So what comes next? About how long till eggs (if any)? Should I continue introducing Xefaud to her?

    Re: Ovulation

She might be building. After looking at some building pictures and ovulation pictures, she looks more like she's building. I still can't believe just how light she is. A pattern that was normally just a light brown is now a creamy tan and her blushing is amazing! I'll get some pictures as soon as I can.

Keep trying to pair, and definately keep your eye out for her next shed, If what you saw was an ovulation she wont stay huge for a real long time. If she wont pair anymore than its quite feasible that she has ovulated.

    Re: Ovulation

sounds like you had a glow then an ovulation, if this was the case, which i dont doubt it was then you have about another month till the pre-lay shed then about a month after that she should lay her eggs
    Cheers!

but like fearless said dont stop pairing till she has no more interest in the males . . . 3 days together, 3 days apart works best for me

I will keep pairing. The male goes back in tomorrow. I will try and get pictures of her and post them. Thank you!

    Re: Ovulation

IF it was ovulation that you witness you have 10 to 14 days before pre-lay shed and than from that pre-lay shed you have 27 to 35 days before laying.

IF she she ovulated you no longer need to pair her.

    Re: Ovulation

I went ahead and reintroduced the pair. If there is no action, then I will know it was an ovulation.

Why do that when there is no point to do so?

If you do witness an ovulation there is not longer a need to pair the animal in question she is DONE. (Of course this mean being able to recognise an ovulation when you see one )
