    Starting Morphs

I'm going to be trying to breed ball pythons in the near future and i would like some suggestions for the first few morphs. I have a reasonably limited budget.
I already have a ball python and i have been reasearching Morphs for about 5-6months. I would prefer Co-dom/Dom morphs but i could still use recessives.

This is the list i have thought of:
    0.4 Normal
    1.0 Jungle Pastel
    1.0 Spider

    (£960ish)

    Re: Starting Morphs

Thats about what I am starting with. I have 0.2 normals right now that are breedable, 1.0 normal breedable, 1.1 normal should be breedable next year, and I am getting 1.0 pastel and 1.1 het albino next week. I am thinking about getting a spider later this year.

    Re: Starting Morphs

Pastels and Spiders are excellent starting places because they are affordable, and they make lots of great combos.

You might consider getting a female morph if you can afford it. That will allow you to produce more morph offspring, and shorten the road to your combos. So, depending on your budget, you could do 1.0 pastel & 0.1 spider or vice versa. Or, you could do 1.1 pastel & 1.0 spider or vice versa if you can afford it.

But overall, the best recommendation is to go with what you like!

    Re: Starting Morphs

its hard for us to say it all depends on what your breeding plans would be.
if you want to start asap i would get some more females, but in the long run you would be better off getting some morph females. obviously there is also more factors that come into play besides those listed

    Re: Starting Morphs

We personally started with pastel because it was something we could afford, but know with prices going down I would suggest what you were thinking of as a good start or if you wanted buy a Bee and a few normals so you could get spiders, pastels and possibly bees all in one. But as others have suggested it all depends on what you want to produce.

With as cheap as a lot of morphs are these days you can't really go wrong...so I say go with what you like!

My favorite morph is the Albino and I'm FINALLY getting it Saturday!
