I'm completely surprised that these professional breeders know SO LITTLE about general herps :S

    They weren't kidding were they?

They weren't kidding, and they aren't professional breeders. Brian is the breeder, and their boss.

    Yeah sorry, I knew that...

But still, even though Brian knows that, I tink they should at least still know what oviparious and herpetology means...

    Brian,

I'm getting tired of the "lets get bit by snakes" theme that has been recently reoccurring in your videos. Sure it is funny to see Chewy get bit once or twice while cleaning/moving animals...but purposly trying to get bit on the nose? Come on...I do not think this reflects well on either our hobby or the level of professionalism at BHB. Snakes bite out of fear...why would one want to intentionally induce a fear instinct to bite for internet entertainment? If you bred dogs would you morally feel comfortable cornering a defensive dog, and purposely try to get bit? I would be more impressed with technical episodes demonstrating the knowledge and skill of snake keeping.

Well, these are snakes they know will bite you regardless. They get bit any time they clean their cage. They're not doing anything more to provoke the snake than when they are doing maintenance. The only difference was they were deliberately positioning X body part in the line of fire. The only added stress I saw was experienced by Kerny.

I personally would never do that. That's just crazy. Some people are just masochistic though. I am not the type.

I understand your position on this topic and it's a tough one for me as well. I will say that we don't stress our animals out to get them to bite. These are animals that will bite every time you open the cage. Most of our animals are tame, but we have the mean ones and we go through extreme caution to make sure that they don't get hurt. The only hurting going on is with the crew. I can't say that we won't get bit in the future although I will say that I won't do another bite off. The interesting thing is that hard core snake people want to see the science behind or the setting up of things. The truth is that most people want to be entertained and if we can entertain enough people and at the same time show them how cool these animals are then it's the way to win over a new audience. This past weeks show was the most viewed show we ever did, so what does that tell you?? We do an educational show and it gets half the views. We need to get viewers to expand our hobby. And the bottom line is it cost me thousands of dollars to put the show on and if I can't see the benefit of the show I will have to stop doing it. The thing to remember is we aren't above learning from our mistakes, I've made a lot of them over the past year. This show had mistakes in it for sure. I will do my best to learn and move forward. I hope that you'll support us on it. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

The show is supposed to be fun, we asked a bunch of questions and asked them to answer most of them wrong. It wouldn't have been funny if they just rattled off the correct answers. Most of my crew surprises my how much they have learned about reptiles. They don't have a PHD, but I'll put them up against most people in the hobby. Remember we aim to edutain. Which means that sometimes things aren't what they seem. Hope this explains a bit. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

I thought it was a great show. I'd just hate to be pepper sprayed
