    What Morphs to Buy,

This summer I am going to buy my first lot of BP's,

    I was thinking of :
    1.1 Lessers
    0.1 Pinstripe
    0.1 Mojo

    And then sometime nextyear,
    Pastels, Spiders, Pins

I was wondering whether this is a good choice or nnot.

    Suggestions please

    Ryan

    Re: What Morphs to Buy,

I'd start off with one of those three you first listed for a male. I'd also get maybe one morph female and some normal females. The good thing about having one morph female, however, is the ability to make double co-dom mutations like bumblebees. If you're going to go with all of those co-dom mutations, it's always good to stock up on normal females. Another reason not to get four morph balls the first year is the chance of killing them. It's really risky to buy more than a thousand dollars of snakes all at once. I could see this getting a little confusing, so here's what I think you should buy initially.

    1.(0-1) Co-dom morph of choice
    0.(2-4) Normal females, preferably yearlings

I keep ball pythons and breed Leopard Geckos,
The Royal Game is a lot Bigger/ More expensive than LG's.
Thanks for your advice mate, Normals are really cheap atm £20-£50 so sounds good.

I would say buy what you like. You cannot go wrong with having snakes that you like the look of. I would also say, unless you just love Lessers, buy a Lesser male and Mojave female, instead of a Lesser pair. Get yourself a Ghost project going too

    Re: What Morphs to Buy,

Like the previous post say...Buy what you like, not what you think people will like or what will make you money...Sometimes people buy for future breeding $$ potential and if you have the patience to invest financially and time-wise to do it right go for it...But it's gonna be a 2 - 3 year wait if you get a female hatchling...Just MHO...I've got 2 of the 3 you listed and would probably pick up the 3rd down the road, so I think you're on the right track for some great morphs down the road...

    Re: What Morphs to Buy,

Yeah, it;s nice that you have some reptile experience. As a said before, if you're planning on buying that many co-dom males, get a LOT of normal females, maybe 3 or 4 each. You can find yearlings or even breeding age normal females for well under $100. That's a good way to crank out a whole bunch of single mutation co-doms. As also previously mentioned, go for a few co-dom females if you want supers or double mutations.

    Re: What Morphs to Buy,

    These are your first BPs?

Alright then I would suggest getting everything to take care of however many snakes you're going to get FIRST. Then make sure everything is set up right, and get the snakes, and always have money to go to the vet. Oh and there is nothing wrong with buying a whole bunch of morphs right off the bat, provided you have the funds and know how to take care of them.

    Re: What Morphs to Buy,

The only thing I would possibly change if you can only go with that amount of BPs is to scratch one of the lessers seen as you have a mojo on there and add an Albino to the list...whatever you decide sounds like you're going to be off to a great start.

He doesn't seem to want to work in the recessives, which I can't blame him for.

I'd say get a lemon pastel or a fire. Also drop the female lesser and have your lesser breed with the other 2 females. Mojave x Lesser BELs look identical to Lesser x Lesser BELs. Unless you intend to sell for the most you can, in which case drop the Mojave. Lesser combos will make you more money than mojave combos.
