pink belly?
My male pinstripe recently started developing VERY faint pinkish blotches on his belly. He just shed a few weeks ago so I don't think its an impending shed. I've been pairing him up w/ my female spider, and she doesn't have ANY blotches, so I don't THINK its like a protozoan infection. At first, I thought it maybe a minor burn from the UTH, because when he's w/ my female she likes to be on top and kind of squishes him towards the bottom, closer to the UTH. Any thoughts? I don't have a photobucket account, so the link to the pic is on my myspace:

Re: pink belly?
What substrates are you using? I ran out of cypress once and mixed in some reptibark from a friend, and I noticed my biggest girl would have indentations and pink patches on her belly, presumably from her body weight pushing down on a chunkier substrate. If you just have patches that come and go, and chunky substrate, this could be the case.

I use cypress w/ my female, and I have reptibark w/ the male. You know I never would have thought of that, that definitely could be it. I just switched to cypress and I love it,it keeps humidity so well. I just have the male on reptibark bc I just had a little bit left in the bag and didn't wanna waste it. Funny thing is he likes to hide under his water bowl, but he's gotten a little chunkier so i know the weight of the water bowl is squishing him on top of the reptibark. Thanks!

Either the moisture is too high or its from shedding, if your moisture is fine, dont worry, I have many ball pythons with pink bellies

They shed more frequently when they are stressed. Breeding is a stressful activity.
