    herpstat thermostat?

hey all. got a quick question. im interested in the proptional thermostats. i was wondering if the herpstat is the only one with dual channels? it is kinda on the high side. i have seen a few of the others but descriptions are vague. what do you all recommend?

    Re: herpstat thermostat?

by dual channels do you mean it can control 2 heat sources? If that's the question, it is as far as I know the only 'stat that has a model with 2 probes. Yea, they're a little pricey, but others around here will tell you that Herpstat makes an extremely good product and has exceptional customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a herpstat 2 if I need another stat.

    Re: herpstat thermostat?

I'm having the same issue. I was considering getting a thermostat but if I'm going to make the investment, I want it to control multiple heat sources (tubs, incubators, etc.), and the only way to do that is to pay $200-$300+ for the Herpstat II or Herpstat Pro. I might go with the Herpstat II once I build my rack. I can wire all the flexwatt into that and use one probe there, and have another probe for my incubator.

    Re: herpstat thermostat?

herpstat II pricey? it's like getting 2 stats with 700 watts per side, built in night drop and a ton of other features.if you were to buy 2 helix's it would be more expensive, less wattage and night drop involves buying extra cords and appliance timers.

IMO the herpstat II is one of the best values around for herpers.have fun!

    Re: herpstat thermostat?

Do you really need to control two heat sources? I mean a lamp of proper wattage can be left on at all times and the belly heat is the only thing that needs to be regulated, really. You can just get an ND and then use that for a rack system. Well, I mean if that's what you want :/

I've got the pro and its worth every cent. I'm running 4 different cages with different heating and everything is right where I want it.

    Re: herpstat thermostat?

Oxylepy has a good point, in my Corn cage I have an unregulated heat lamp (40W) and a UTH with a herpstat.

    Works great.

I have a Herpstat Pro to control three entire different cages; that works great too.
