I have my ASFs in 10 gallon display tanks in the same room. Hasn't affected my snake's feeding habits. But, I can't tell you if this is advisable. I've read a lot of times that one way to get a ball python eating is to pre-scent the room. Well, won't work if the rats are always in the same room.

I could see it upping your chances of getting bit. They smell the food all the time, maybe they'll be in feed mode all the time?

Can't say though. I don't keep spare bp food around the house.

    Good luck.

Kept a rack full or rats and a rack full of mice in the same room as my BP for a little over a year and never had any problem.

Same room for the longest time.
Moved to a different room for convenience, no difference in the snakes attitudes.

Never had a problem in the same room.

I've kept my feeders in the same room as my bp's for almost two years now and I haven't run into any problems.

Re: bps, rats and mice oh my

I don't think the ball pythons will constantly be in the "hunting mode" by having rats in the same room, because if they want to eat they will hunt, but if they are happy and full they will just act normally no matter if there are rats present or not.

    Did that make sense?
