i've tried everything to keep the humidity up!

there is foil over screen lid. even if i spray where the water is sticking on the glass, it will still dry up in a few hours. even then, it's not ambient humidity, it's just the water laying on stuff. i feel like i'm seriously missing something. it can't be THAT dry here. i'm in sc, and it rains atleast twice a week. is my last resort a fogger?

i just have a ball now, but i'm getting a boa in a couple days and i want him to be comfortable. at this rate i won't be able to meet his needs for moisture.

Re: i've tried everything to keep the humidity up!

I made a home-made humidifier, I got the idea from ceramics class, this sort of device was used to keep pots from drying out to quickly.

Here is what you are going for:

You pretty much take a jar, cut paper towels into inch thick strips, and dip them in the water and roll them over the edge of the jar. You only need like an inch deep of water and one paper towel to get the job done. The only thing I worry about is molding, I wash and replace the paper towels as often as I wash the water dishes though.

My humidity was at 35% and I got it up to 55% relatively easy, I use a CHE too... who says you can't use a heat lamp and keep humidity??

I've been meaning to post a little thread showing how to do this, but haven't gotten around to it. I hope you get the idea

You could also do a thing as posted but use moss from a reptile shop. (frog moss) it doesn't mold.

You could always purchase a reptile cage with an RHP
