    What to get next?

So with one '08 female ball python and 2.2 adult cresties, I've been thinking about what's going to come next as far as cold-blooded roommates go.

I've been wondering.. should I stick with the same species I have? I'll eventually have to get a boyfriend for my girl, but she won't be ready for that until 2010 I'm sure.

So.. what is it? I'm good on cresties(except the couple I'm waiting to hear back on from someone local). I've been going back and forth between a SD retic, blood python, large normal female BP and an '08 morph for next season, among all sorts of other things. And then of course there's all the lizards and other species of geckos. My interest has also been quite piqued lately by hognose snakes various colubrids..

I've been hit by serious reptile fever lately. The only thing I know for sure is that for the moment I'm staying away from amphibians, and anything that's for just show and not handling.

Anyone wanna help me out with this darn(darn amazing that is!) addiction?

    Re: What to get next?

Why not pick your '08 girl a boyfriend up, and let them "grow up" together(after QT)? That way, they'll hit around the same time, you know they're both hefty enough? It'd be kind of cool raising kids. ^_^

I'm biased, but I'd say get a hognose. The hognose I found is completely different than bp's that it is so very interesting to observe both species and make comparisons. It is really cool.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

    Re: What to get next?

what I REALLY need is a house rather than an apartment so I have more room for more herps

This place is going to get a little crazy once the geckos start a makin' babies. Of course that will likely mean a few extra bucks here and there if I find people who want some of them, and any subsequent $ will go towards whatever I decide on.

What a dilemma.. At the moment I'm thinking of asking for an RBI BP rack for my b-day in early feb, picking up a nice '08 boy for my Alice, and then looking towards a new species of snake. Blood python or hoggie? I think those are my top choices, today at least(they change weekly). Sure would be neat to have a pair of hoggies, they're so darn cute! And besides, the girlfriend sure does love the smaller snakes.

Of course who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with a leachianus or veiled chameleon somewhere and my priorities will change. Why can't I have everything??
