troubles with tank
my 40 gal breeder is not holding temps or humidity very well( now i know why everyone using sterilite)... should i use foil over the screen?...also my substrate temps read 92(hot side0.....but i can only get the inside of the warm hide to 88...should i bump up the uth?..i am using a moonlight bulb and uth on the same side...my waterbowl is more towards the warm side and humidity is very low... so should i just use foil to cover the lid?

Re: troubles with tank
I would foil 3/4 or so of the screen, maybe use some moss to up the humidity.

Re: troubles with tank
Foil over the lid, insulate three of the sides with styrofoam like what they use for under siding on a house. Leave an area of the top slightly larger than the light fixture to allow some air flow. Add a second UTH on the cool side that is set to get the temp on that sides floor to about 80 F. Make sure substrate is not to deep. Keep it in the warmest room in the house. Set up a humidifier in the room and spray the inside of the glass sides with a light mist of water at approximately 85 to 90 degrees in temp at least once a day unless you see humidity going high and staying high. (Too cool of water will cause temp drops/ too hot can hurt the snake if it gets hit with over spray accidentally.)
Give it a try, but I long ago abandoned glass tanks and over head heat lamps. Good luck.
