    Hide Question

I just switched over from a tank/light setup to a decent size rack and I have a question...

I'm wondering if you need a hidebox inside a closed rack system? I have 15 and 32 qt steralite compartments and the only open side is the front. I tried putting a hide box in the small compartments but a hide + a small water bowl takes up 75% of the space. Is it ok to just use a water bowl with THIS type of setup? I know it's never ok in tanks and cages but it would seem pretty secure in there, what do you guys think?

Some people don't, some people do...

Its a matter of choice, really.

And how much space you want to provide to your animals.

If your animals are not reacting well (aka not eating, stressing out), then put a hide in.

Watch your animals and do what they "tell" you to do.

75% of the space sounds like too big of a hide for too small of a snake.

Make sure the hide is nice and snug and tight. Where is that hide guide thread?

Also, you don't have to use 2 in rack systems, and I use one. But it's not required but highly suggested for younger snakes.

Well the thing is any smaller and the snake wouldn't fit in the hole, the snakes being kept in the 15s right now are about 200g each and the water bowl is not very big at all either. I could switch them to the 32 qt compartment but when I did it seemed awfully big.
