Re: New girly soon!
Thanks guys! So I picked her up yesterday, but I didn't have time to post because I had to get her all set up and make sure her temps were hokai and then run off to work.
But anywho! I've got a few concerns about her actually >.> I noticed when I handled her before buying her that she felt leathery. Like, even now she kind of does, but not as much. Maybs the previous owner had her humidity too high? I actually asked him if he was selling his thermometer/hygrometer he used on her and he said he didn't use one, so..Also, I think she's got an RI because every once in a while I hear a whistling wheeze coming from her, only if she's near my ear though of course. And, there's more -.- I'll include pictures. She's a lil over two years old, and I think she's REALLY underweight. The pics will do no justice to actually how it looks IRL. I feel her ribs easily when rubbing her body..If I just move my finger up her head backwards, not push really, but just move it up, her skins so lose it bunches. Same with her body, if I just bring my fingers together without squeezing or anything, her skin really wrinkles. I also got pictures of her spine, she's like a triangle! The first one will be where she's only just kind of bent, and then the second one will be where she's really wrapped around my hand. I'm extremely sure she's underweight, but I don't want to just start feeding her like I would my others. According to the widest part of her, I think I'd feed her small-medium rats (smaller medium lol) and I feed everyone once a week every Friday. Would it be bad if I started her off right off the bat a meal a week? I asked her previous owner how often he fed her, and what size, and he said he was feeding large feeder mice once every two weeks. I don't want to risk her getting sick because shes so used to such small meals so infrequently. Oh yea, and her scales feel really lose. I first noticed it when she started moving backwards in my hand, and my hand was moving against her scales instead of with her body. They lift up I guess? I don't know how to describe it. But they lift up a little bit, as if they catch on my skin..
Anyways, sorry for the long post, and thanks for any help you can offer me! Pics inc!

^^^Here's one to get a general idea of her size, compared to a AA battery.

^^^Look at that peak! It's sharper than my pinky knuckle when bent

^^^Even though it looks like I'm pushing on her head hard and pushing her into my blanket, its because of my poofy comforter. I'm hardly putting any pressure on her head there..
Oh yea! And I named her Sekhmet After the bloodthirsty war goddess Hathor becomes to defend Ra from assassins mwuaha. Bloodthirsty goddess, Blood Python, hmmmm.. but I think for convenience sake I may just call her Sekhy lol

Re: New girly soon!
Wow... that is a tiny two year old! One mouse every other week??? That is horrible. My 08 baby is eating an adult mouse every week! I would definitely bump up to weekly feedings, but still small prey items for a month or so (maybe go up to small rats?). Then start increasing the size. I hope you didn't have to pay much for her. That is more like a rescue than a sale. I'm glad to hear that it sounds like she's in good hands now and as long as her appetite is good, she should come around.

Re: New girly soon!
Hmm yea that's what I was thinking. Both that she's small for her age, and to give her small rats once a week.
I even mentioned to the dude that she seemed a bit smaller than I'd expected, but he said she looks like she grew faster than he expected lol. He said the day I picked her up was actually the day he was going to feed everyone, but I wanna wait until this Friday to feed her, so she gets settled in and so I can start trying to get her onto the schedule.
Now, I know bloods require more stricter husbandry, and I've been checking my temps/humidity, but I want to make sure..Her hot hide is currently at 90.3, and her cool side is 81.4. Her humidity is 53%. Should I up her humidity a bit?

Re: New girly soon!
I wouldn't worry about getting it more humid than that. It's more important when they are hatchlings. They do seem to appreciate having the opportunity to soak once in a while, even when they are older. I used to keep a larger water dish for soaking and a smaller one for drinking, since they had a habit of leaving a lot of waste in the soaking tub.
Good luck with your new girl! She is pretty, even if her previous conditions were that bad.
