anchoring hides

I am using a tub with some cheap plastic hides in it. The hides are the perfect size, provides him enough room but not a lot of extra space. The problem is they dont weigh anything. Any suggestions on how to anchor them so that the place doesn't look like a war zone every morning?

why do you need to anchor them?

when he goes in them he moves them all over the place and the warm hide ends up on in the middle and then the temp in it is only in the mid to upper 80s, nowhere near the 92 or 93.

Are you sure you don't have a hermit crab?

Thats fine really, they're just thermo regulating with their hides. Aside from looking like a war zone there is nothing wrong. You should see some of my tubs, you would think they had arms.

I've found my snakes doing the same exact thing but I think that they will move it to wherever they feel most comfortable and so far as I can tell it does not impeded their thermoregulation at all. I only use one hide in most of my tubs on the warm side and they'll bulldozer all the aspen to get the hide to where they want it .

i guess I have nothing wrong and just need to trust my temp gun. As long as the hide starts the day at 92 he can move it wherever he wants it.

I think its a good thing that your snake can move its hide around. It can thermoregulate itself perfectly instead of having either hot or cool.

I only use one hide in my tubs and they move them around to wherever they want.

never had that issue with the hides but water bowls....forget about it!!!
