First Time B/P Owner

Hello all, My name is Matt I've always had a fasination with snakes and 3 days ago i talked my girlfriend into letting me have a Ball Python, He/She (havent got "it" sexed yet but im callin it he). is about 4-6 months old and is about 18" long. Its a just a regular b/p (no morph) and his name is George

after getting him i noticed that he has Mites! not too bad, im picking 2-5 off him per day. but i'd imagine that this problem isnt going away easily.. I've done a fair bit of reading but everyone says that their way works and is harmless to the snake. (trying to sell their product)

I have been getting conflicting stories about all the different treatments. eg NIX . but i read one story about it almost killing the snake. if anyone with some experiance in the matter point me in the right direction. I want them gone before it becomes a Serious problem.

Both George and I would really appreciate some help.

Provent a Mite (PAM for short ).

Ya Provent a Mite (PAM) spray on the substrate and enclosure, remove the water and snake of course once it is dry you can put the snake back in with water.....

Also you can use a product called Reptile Relief and will kill the mites on the snake itself, but treating a mite problem is a two way battle the enviroment and the snake itself.

I would QT the snake on just paper towels for about a month so you can see the mites and begin treating....You can also give the snake a 15-20 min soak to drown some of the mites....

There is a lot of info on here regarding mite treatment i just battled a mite problem now im ready to go back to regular substrate and tank enviroment
