I've read the stickies up here on shedding and bad shedding and all those other posts on shedding... really awesome information! We're new to the snake thing - we have 2 snakes - and we've only had one shed so far. And we didn't know what the process was. We just noticed one day that the snake had pieces of skin falling off in the tank. It wasn't all in one piece. After reading all the information here, I figured I had the tank too dry - I had humidity at 30%. So, we upped the humidity between 50 and 60 on both tanks and put a hide box with moist moss. Then the past few days, we noticed the other snake had the signs of shed (I've already read the shedding info by this time, so I knew what to expect somewhat) - glazed eyes and pink belly. We're not supposed to handle the snake too much at this time, or so I read, but my husband won't believe me, so he still takes the snake out every night like always. Last night his eyes were clear but his skin was still dull looking, so, then I asked my hubby to give the snake a bath in the sink and he did (he thought it was a great idea). We only had him in the water for, like 5 minutes, because we weren't sure if that was a good thing. The snake seemed to like it - didn't try to get out or anything. Anyway, my husband took him out of the sink and tried drying him off with a towel (basically, just let him crawl through the towel) and instead, he used the towel to get his old skin out! IT WAS WILD! I mean, okay, I'm just a newbie and all - so this was the very first time I've ever seen a snake shed... the whole skin came off in one piece, so I guess we did something right!
