Re: no Locks :(
Relax; it's a long season! My female spider is totally disinterested in my lemon pastel and it's making me nuts, but it is a long season ahead.
Be patient...

I guess it's just one of those instinctual things for them. Maybe because in the wild their breeding period is during the rainy season (I don't even know if thats true but that's all I can think of lol )? Just keep trying man. Patience is the key!

No reason to do this combat is stressful and unneeded. Its early in the season this is really the "preseason". Depending on his age he may not go this year that is something that you may have to consider. I had a male not go last year but he's getting the job done this year. The other thing maybe hes trying and the girl is the problem. She may not be the willing party.
Its still early, slow down, breath and look and whats going on with your snakes, your temps, the weather, ect. This isn't as fool proof as people like to think it is. It is easy but you do have to do a little more than just placing them together sometimes.
Try misting them, pairing before a storm, put two females in with one male. Not seeing locks this early isn't uncommon.
Keep trying you'll get there.

Re: no Locks :(
I agree with Ed, don't battle the males, it's un-necessary. And it is WAY early in the season to even begin to stress.
Put him in when the girl is in shed, put another girl's shed in with the female you want him to breed to, put sperm plugs from another male on her back, pair when a weather front comes in - try all those - he'll get it.
I'm going to have to dig out my VPI book where the Barkers state that they never battle their males, because they've had too many defeated males go on to never breed. Not worth the risk.

I knew I read that somewhere.. Thanks Robin. I didn't want to say that and not remember where I read it.

Remember breeding season is getting started and it is far from over yet.

You do realize that Ball Pythons do not brumate, don’t you?

Re: no Locks :(
Just keep introducing him.. Only 3 out of my 7 females have been locking up. Especially if they laid eggs last season they may not be in the mood yet.
