Tub placement
So, I'm looking to build a rack, and have been looking through all of the DIY section and the caging section, seeing what other people have done. Although there is one thing I can't seem to decide on...
***Have the tubs sitting on the shelf and on top of the heat tape (such as http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=58302 )
***Have the tubs "hanging" just a touch off the heat tape (such as http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=45597 )
Where as I have seen very good examples of both, what are some of the ups and downs of each? Does the tub rubbing on the heat tape cause weak or worn down spots? Does having the tubs not in complete contact with the tape cause the tubs to be cooler? Do the tubs start to sag a bit when they are hung? Does anyone have both kinds of racks?
Either way I'm going to play with it and use a combination of the examples people have shown. One more side question....I'm looking at using expanded PVC, or a similar material (any suggestions?). For those of you that have used it, what thickness do you recommend?
Thanks for the help!! ^_^

Re: Tub placement
As many questions as I had in the first post, I've still come up with more. About what size gap is considered ok between the top of the tub and the next shelf?

So I'm not usually one to bump my own threads, but....

Re: Tub placement
Hi,
For what size/species of snake?
I made the gap a lot smaller for my corns and house snake than I did for any of the ball pythons for example.

Re: Tub placement
For young balls. I know I have seen that in some other post before, but I haven't ever seen anything about how the tubs are held/placed in the rack.
