Before you build/purchase a rack....
Where do you have all your snakes? Do you just have tubs sitting around everywhere? I ask because I currently have one snake in a glass tank enclosure but I am planning on picking up two more snakes this weekend and putting them in tubs. I don't have the resources to build a rack and don't plan to until I'm up to 5 or so snakes, and I'm looking all over my apartment for places to put these dang things
Anyways, I have some shelves that I might put the tubs on as kind of a poor man's rack for now, but I'm just curious what you guys do

Can't help with rack questions, but make sure you at least have a seperate room to house your new snakes for a quarantine.

Re: Before you build/purchase a rack....
I have mine in tubs sitting on a coffee table out of the way of traffic in my room. I would say for the good of the snake some where where they wont be bothered so much. Especially for the newbies! I need to build/buy a rack too....

Take a look at these

I have a stack of these 14 high. Price is good and I heat them with heat cable. Heat cable can be purchased at most reptile supply place. These are really cheaper than setting up glass tanks. Good ting is you can use just one or they stack right on top of each other when your collection grows.

I never had the problem, I started off with one snake, made a rack, and then filled it up.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

ditto. I had one snake in a tank. Then build a rack, and filled it. Then build another rack...and another, and another.

I've seen those at walmart, but I always wondered about how to keep the temps up on them and just how secure they are. Do you put the heat on the back? And I guess if you have 14 of them, they must be secure so that answers that question....

Re: Before you build/purchase a rack....
Here is a photo of these drawers when I had them stacked 6 or 7 high. Like I said they are now stacked 14 high and are good and sturdy. They are beside my VPCB70 for compairison.

Re: Before you build/purchase a rack....
actually I just took a closer look...are they sold individually? Then just put the heat in between them when you stack it?
