    snake drool

Hi i am a little concerned right now about my bp. she is about 2 years old and eats great and sheds fine. i never had any problems with her at all. i just took her out of her tank and was olding her for about 10 minutes and i felt something wet on my hand and im not sure if she peed or drooled. im very concerned. is there anything that i should keep my eye for and should she be brought to a vet? this was clear no yellow just clear fluid with no smell. thanks for your help.

It sounds like she just drank some water before you picked her up. It's been known to happen. As long as there's no harsh breathing and she doesn't have foam around her mouth I wouldn't worry about it.

Most likely it is sweat or urine, snakes have a tendency to do that.

Sometimes they do kinda drool on you, but its normally very hard for that to happen. That usually happens when they rub their head against you and the side of their mouth opens up alil and bam. Its not very common though.

    Hope this helps

the first thing you should do is hold that hand about 1 inch away from your nose and take a big wiff. If it smells bad it probably urine. My husband laughs at me when it happens. It use to happen alot but we have both wised up and check that tail before we will pick up any snake if its got a huge lump just before the vent you are pretty sure it is going to happen soon.

You might have your answer there then
If you want to be safe just watch for breathing oddly. Things like that. most likely theres nothing to worry about. I have also had snakes spit out water from drinking too much or they havent swallowed it down enough before picked up.
