I'm being paranoid..
Well, this is my first attempt to breed.
SO I want to breed my Normal female corn to my Amel. male corn.
My male Amel is a bit smaller in size, my female came from a grouped cage of adults and had bred before I got her (layed eggs for me a week after I took her home) so I know she can breed.
But I'm so scared of cannibalism.. with ball pythons I'm not, but corns just scare me. They are both breeding weight, even though the male is smaller. What do I do if she tries to eat him or something?
Am I just being over paranoid?

If they are ready they will breed within minutes of putting em together. If not separate em. Then no worries. Mine always locked up right away, then I would put em back in their own tubs.

So it wouldn't be the same as ball pythons where you would leave them together for a long period of time?

I never had to.
It is very unlikely if they are fed up and healthy they would turn on one another anyway....so a few days together shouldnt hurt a thing. I just never had to. They would lock up within minutes (sometimes seconds) of being put together.

I belive that only young corns (hatchlings) may cannibalies each other, but that is still rare. I have never had a problem with adults. If a female is not ready she will try to get away. If they both are not ready not much will happen at all.

Re: I'm being paranoid..
With corns, the entire process takes 20 to 30 minutes tops; especially for two that are ready to go. Have you brumated yours yet? After brumation, they're usually primed up and ready to go. Usually within a few minutes of putting them together you will see courting (the female will start "twitching" showing she's receptive, the male will start positioning himself). I place them in a separate tub with news paper so I can check for "evidence" of successful copulation.
If I don't see anything right away, I'll leave them together for a couple of hours and then separate them and look for evidence. If there isn't any I give them a week off and try again. If there is, I wait three days and repeat for a total of 3 copulations. Then its waiting time for eggs/hatchlings.
They're a lot easier to breed than the bps.
