And those results are what proved that cinnamon (originally called cinnamon pastel) and pastel (originally called pastel jungle) where mutations of different genes and not alleles (different mutations of the same gene). When Grazianni was making the case that he thought cinnamon would be genetic he made a pretty detailed comparison showing similarities to pastel so when the combo turned out to be more than the expected sum of the two mutations I really expected that pastel and cinnamon would be alleles. But it turned out that there isn't an indication of any linking between the two.
