Mods please relocate this thread if I have chosen the wrong forum. I have so far refrained from thanking any member for a making given post ever since the option to do so has been there because I can imagine this function ending up having the unintended result of the formation of opposing cliques. So far a substantial portion of the "thanks" has been given to posters that are giving an opinion on a contested topic. If somebody doesn't like the post or the poster or the people doing the thanking, they may harbor a grievance toward the whole group. I haven't wanted to stigmatize anyone by adding my name to their post. I'm sure that this feature will remain on the site, I just wanted to get some input from the other members. I'm sure that most people would say that I am either being silly or overly cautious, but in my short time participating in online forums I believe that I have noticed certain trends of behavior. What is your opinion?
