Moss in the tank

I was just wondering if there was a specific place in the cage to put moss and if there are any precautions with moss

I looked into moss to help with humidity recently, and was advised to put it around the water bowl(which in my cage is on the cool side of the tank).

So far that has been working great!

I have never tried putting by the water bowl, but wouldn't the moss get into the water?

Try laying it out on the ground with a radius larger than the water dish. Then dampen it and put the water dish over it (there will be a ring of moss around the dish. Worked for me so you could give it a try.

I am getting the idea that there is no definitive rule to doing some things. A process of trial/error and the advice of others to spark ideas is the way to go.

I put a little clump of moss into each of the hides to assist with sheds.

Right now I have the moss pretty well spread across the tank in little clumps. I have one clump by the water bowl...one by the heat hide and another by the cool hide.

One thing I was told about Moss and some Substrates is to bake or microwave them to kill off any mites or mite eggs that could be hidden inside.

As for keeping humidity up I place clumps in all 4 corners and along the back side of the water dish up against the glass. Also during Shedding I put clumps in both hides. You can also try putting in a larger waterdish if you have the room. I did and it raised it up about 6-8% but it was still kinda low. Now I am at a comfy 62%.

Side note:
Some companies use precautions to assure the customer that their products are mite and parasite free, but why not take the extra step to be 100% sure it was done? 10-20mins of time spent doing this is well worth it imo. Why take the risk?
