Question about spiders
I was sitting here reading the two polls and wondered how spiders turned in to bees, well most crosses anyway.
A regular spider called spider by Kevin I believe because the animal had a thin black pattern, kind of spider-webbed, so the animals where called spiders. Now, once a spider gets crossed into say a lesser, a spider becomes a bee, well, a Lesser Bee. Same way with most of the other crosses out there with spiders in them, aside from say a spinner which is a pin crossed with a spider.
So, I am wondering, how a spider becomes a bee? In other words why was the name -bee coined to most spider crosses? Besides the fact that lesser-bee is easier to say "lesser platinum spider"

Re: Question about spiders
Probably has to do with the fact that Pastel x Spider was one of the first combos produced. The yellow and black is remeniscant to the coloration of a bumle bee, hence the name Bumble bees. After more combos were produced with the spider gene they kept the bee portion of the name. Lesser Bee; Mojave Bee etc.

Well which one sounds better in the marketing world
Pastel Spider or Bumble Bee
Lesser Spider or Lesser Bee
Super Pastel Spider or Killer bee
Pewter spider or Pewter bee
Cinnimon spider or Cinna Bee
Pinstripe Spider or Spinner
Pastel Pinstripe Spider or Spinner Blast
....
It is all marketing!
