what species do you eventually want to have?

Well after once again being a "herp owner" for the past couple of weeks, I'm definitely addicted. I've been thinking of what I could eventually see myself having five, ten, or fifty years from now.

I think at the moment I will stick with ball pythons, I'd like to get two males and at least another female sometime in the next three years, so I can try my hand at producing some babies! I'm sure once I do start breeding, the number of snakes I have could very well explode.

I'd like to have a boa of some sort, I'm thinking I'd be more than happy with a red tailed boa. This wouldn't be for breeding, most likely. I just like that they get pretty big, but it will take some convincing of the GF to get her to accept "bigger" snakes. She still thinks that a 12 inch skinny-as-heck garter snake is "normal" sized. She will learn

I have always been fascinated by lizards. Bearded dragons, water dragons, iguanas, monitors, and other large lizards are just SO COOL. If I am ever in the position to care for iguanas, I know that I would love to get into rescuing them from bad homes. For right now I know that I can't take care of them though.

If I ever get up the nerve some day, I might look into giant snakes. It would be so rewarding to care for beasts like burms or retics. We'll see what happens 25 years from now when I've got a farm and can breed my own feeder rabbits.

For now I have my eyes set on ball pythons and one red tailed boa down the line. How about you guys? Any dreams about species you don't already have?

Re: what species do you eventually want to have?

    Irian Jaya carpet pythons

    Sinaloan milk snakes

    Motley sunglow corn snakes

Green vine snakes (Oxybelis fulgidis, not Ahaetulla).

    Satanic leaf geckos

    Carpet chameleons (Furcifer lateralis)

    Various Anolis ssp.

Draco lizards (I hear there's been some progress with captive breeding, and solving the issue with their husbandry).

Re: what species do you eventually want to have?

My dream reptile and one that I would just be happy to see let alone own is the Oenpelli Python - (Morelia oenpelliensis)!

One that I think may become a reality to work with down the road are Rough-Scaled Pythons - (Morelia carinata).
