Green Tree Python, in you're opinion yay or nay?
Ok, i have experience with many, and honestly i love GTP's. Never been tagged by one, although i have been tagged by a ATB once or twice. They wanted to give me a 'kiss.' My GTP used to curl up in my lap. It didn't enjoy being handled too much but it would tolerate it. Once nighttime hit i wouldn't bother trying to do anything with him. People say they are horrible in temperment, their bite is one of the most destructive, etc etc... That wasn't my personal experience with them
Anyway, in your personal experience do you like or dislike GTP's?

I love their look and would love to have some. I have heard that they have a bad temperment. But to answer your question I LOVE THEM!

Love them! I have had my little yellow worm on a stick for about 5 months now and it is all around a great little snake. Never struck at me and has a great feeding response.

Mine is handleable during the day -- altho I do think he prefers not to be -- but he tolerates a bit of it.
At night anything that enters his domain is considered food -- we've come to an understanding on that and things seem to have worked out just fine -- I've not yet been bit (knock on wood).

I would definitely consider getting one in the future for a really nice display snake. :]
A little bite every once in a while is good for me.

Have you noticed much of a temperament difference between the two? Some say the GT pythons are more aggressive than the AT or ET boas but I've never heard this from an owner of both. Care to share your expertise with us?

I'm also looking at getting a chondro or an ATB (since I've still got the freakin aboreal cage that the people sold me when I bought my first BP at the beginning of the year) but with most of my experience up to this point being with colubrids and balls is there one or the other that you guys who've had both would recommend? I know they can be a tough nut to crack sometimes but I think they are just absolutely beautiful

Well my atb is a sweetheart now adays. He will come right out of the tub onto my arm when i need to get him out for a cage cleaning. But when i first got him it was a different story, i had to use the hook with him. The gtp's act tough until they are out of thier tubs once out they are fine. In general i guess i know what to look for in terms of them wanting to bite me, but most of the time i do my cleaning in the afternoons when they are pretty much sleeping and feeding at night. From time to time they will wake up and pull the little s curl on me and act like they mean business but i change out the paper towel substrate and nothing. I took a few bites from only one of them, my aru neonate it stings but nowadays he will watch my hands and if i get too close i can see that he will bite me. In general though they arent as bad as people say, however be ready to take a bite if you end up with either an atb or a gtp, because it will happen .

Well i dont like the whole starter arboreal idea to be honest. You either want an atb, gtp, or etb. They are different snakes. Now the difference is atb's are little bit more forgiving of husbandry errors, and gtp's and especially etb's are not. So the only way to keep these guys thriving is to make sure you do your research and keep your husbandry up to par & spot on. I started babbling, to answer your question as to which one i suggest its really up to you, do your research and see which one like the looks of, which one you feel up to taking on as far as husbandry requirements, etc.... If it were up to me... Hmmm, im always up for a new chondro!
