Ok so the first week he would come out and explore....and after his first feed he hardly comes out at all...that i see anyway....he started to a little this morning but I think I startled him when i walked by...is that normal? for them to only come out when they start to get hungry????

Re: BP Hiding alot
I feed my BP every 5 days right now. I don't handle her on feeding day or for 48 hours after she has fed. After feeding my BP goes in her hide and will not come out for 48 hours until I uncover her hide, take her out and handle her a bit while I spot clean her tank. When I put her back she will usually explore the tank for a bit and then settle into one of her hides. I repeat this same process the following two days and she will explore when I put her back each night. Some nights longer than others. I will very rarely in the evening see her outside her hide. Most often I see her poking her head out of her hide an inch or two.
So to answer your question from my experience if I didn't take her out of her hide an handle her she might never leave. That is what they do in the wild and that is what she does in her tank.

Re: BP Hiding alot
It's what they do. It takes them a few days to get settled into their new home. All that exploring and activity you see the first week or so is almost always temporary. If the BP weren't hiding and "sleeping" all the time, then I'd be worried.

Yup, that's a very good thing. Hiding is what a happy snake does. Nice work. If you want to see him out and about set your alarm clock for about 2:00 A.M. and have a look!

I scare Pandora from time to time when she's about to get out of her hide. I've had her for almost a month and she hides most of the time, unless it's relatively dark in my room and everything is still. Remember, they're nocturnal

Re: BP Hiding alot
my snake has been coming out every night right around 1 or 2 AM, except for last night and I'm assuming she was just chilling in her hide after having a meal the previous evening.
Though I know she must have come out some point last night since she moved to the hide on the warm side of her tank, I had not seen her use that side yet Must be digesting.
