I don't know where you live and whether or not they sell that stuff there. But I know they do in Canada. It's called CLR; it breaks down calcium deposits which is what those lines on your tank are. I have them too and they're a pain to get rid of. If you find anything that works, let me know.

Try vinegar. Soaking it and/or using hot vinegar (be careful you don't crack the glass!) will help it come off faster.

I was also going to say vinegar. And maybe try scraping with a razor blade.

As long as you soak the tank afterward to get rid of the vinegar smell it should be fine. Vinegar disinfects as well so you can use it to clean on a regular basis.

Some people will use the vinegar method while the tank still has fish in it (of course they drop the level, and watch so no vinegar drips into the water), so I would have to assume that the snakes would be just fine after you rinse it off. Just soak a paper towel in vinegar and hold/lay that on the water marks for awhile, then rub off and rinse off.
