Thermostat question?
It's starting to get a lot cooler here in the PNW, and we're trying to figure out a good way to winterize our snake. Right now he's in a 10 gallon glass enclosure, and during the summer it was fairly easy to keep his temps and humidity right, but as it's getting cooler, it's getting harder. I'd like to switch him to a tub, with a UTH on both sides controlled by a thermostat(s).
My question is, is there a thermostat out there that can control both UTHs at different temps (hot and cold side) or do I need 2 separate ones? I have a crappy one that I'm using right now for my current UTH, but I'd like to replace it anyway. Also, any suggestions for good therms are appreciated. I don't mind paying $100 or more, especially if it can control 2 UTHs.
Thanks in advance! And happy Friday!

Re: Thermostat question?
You may find that switching to a tub is all you need in order to have an adequate cool and warm side with just one thermostat. Plastic tubs are more insulated than a screened glass aquarium and the smaller volume makes it easier to have a smaller temperature differential.
Anyway, there is a thermostat that can control two different heat sources if you'd like to pursue that route. Spyder Robotics makes the Herpstat II. You can take a look at the specs at: http://spyderrobotics.com/products/herpstat2.html

Re: Thermostat question?
Yeah- I hear you on the colder weather! Brrrr.....
If you have a stand alone tub, it will probably need temp regulation on the hot and cool side. However, if you have the tub in an enclosed rack system (RBI's for example) then just some flex watt on one end will do the trick.
Here in Bend we've already had freezing (and below) night temps and my racks are all doing fine with the aforementioned set-up.

Re: Thermostat question?
Thank you for your responses! I'm definitely going to switch to a tub, and try keeping it in the easier to heat bedroom and see if my current UTH does the trick. If it's too cold, I'll buy a second UTH and therm.
Starmom - Keep warm!
