New display tank, with a couple snake pics too.

I just finished installing the last minute details on the new display tank I built for my first BP Bella, so I thought I'd post some pics. I had to take them on my cell though. My camera battery is dead.

Before the heat, floor, and lighting...









This shows how I did the heat. I used the two tank heaters I had on her tub, cut notches for the little square thing where the cord is attached, drilled holes for air flow, then with both of them installed, foil taped them down and laid linoleum over the whole wood floor.



With the lighting and linoleum installed.







She is outgrowing these hides, but likes to lift them up like that and move them around her tub. I'm guessing it will be the same with the new tank.







I'm gonna change over to cypress or aspen soon, as well as adding some cage decor, so when I do, I'll take better pics and post em up too.

You might want to gaurd that lamp too - I used some for a while and they get hot at both ends.

I thought about it, but I don't plan on keeping the light on. It's really only in there for when I want to sit and watch her. If I find myself leaving it on for any long periods of time, I'll definitely do that though.

Cool. How's the linoleum work for creating a heat gradient?

I'm curious as to hwo the cleaning of it will turn out. with the wood and all....Is the lenolium removable for cleaning.. just curious..It looks Awesome and the snake seems happy.I was thinking of building one similar to that for my snakes.. now you've provided me ith a visual.. Thanks.. hey is there any way you can get a closer pic of how the glass is held to the tank?

Looks like the plexiglass is screwed onto the front of the enclosure. Check the first picture.

If the linoleum is stuck down, you may want to take some aquarium silicone and seal all of the edges to keep urates from seeping underneath. Might want to do a linoleum "splash guard" as well. Just go about 3 to 4 inches up each of the wooden walls with linoleum and that will catch most of the fecal matter that tends to get smeared. Really helps when it comes cleaning time. Looks good though. Did you build the box or convert an old chest or something?

So far so good... There is no heating element on the cool side currently, just relying on the ambient temps in the room. I'll figure out something this winter if I need additional heat on the cool side though.

Cleaning shouldn't be bad. All the wood has been stained and clear coated with a waterproof sealant. Should be able to spray and wipe clean... The linoleum is the self-adhesive kind, and is stuck to the wood sub-floor. It's not a very strong adhesive, so I can fairly easily remove it if needed. I thought about something to go around the edge, but I wasn't sure what to use. I'll look for some silicone this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion. And no, this is all built from scratch. The sides and sub-frame were built using scrap 2x4's, and the sub-floor, back and lid are made from a sheet of 1/4" birch plywood ($15 at Home Depot). I got the plexiglass also at Home Depot for $15 for a 30x36 sheet, which I cut down to 36x14 and screwed to the front of the frame.

one question though.. how did you water proof it... or did you?

Last question I swear LOL. What kind of stain did you use or was the wood pre-stained?

I Got my framework and all done.. now I just need to do the interior, sand, then attatch the plexi and viola done!.(excited)
