    How to Wire Computer Fan

I have a mini fridge I'm going to be using as an incubator this season. I can get a cheap computer fan from Best Buy since my fiance works there, but how do you wire it so that you can plug it into the wall? I am technologically impaired so I don't understand big words when it comes to electronics. If anyone has a link to a guide or has pictures (I'm a visual learner) that would be great.

We got a 120V fan (so you dont have to use any kind of transformer) and just connected it to a wall outlet cord and voila! plugged it in! Ill get pics if you need them

Re: How to Wire Computer Fan

A computer fan is going to run on low voltage DC, and wall sockets are 120V AC, so either you could find a cheapo old computer power supply and hook the fan up to that, or get a 120V AC fan.

Pictures would be great. Are 120v fans ok to use in an incubator? Is there any difference in their performance?

Re: How to Wire Computer Fan

Heres what I did I went and got a 120mm computer fan and found an old portable cd player charger. Its for all intransitive purposes an AC-DC converter. I found one that matched the output volts as my fan of 12.5 volts. Then I cut the charger end off and left the wall outlet part then just wired red to red and black to balck plugged it and and poof incubator fan. Its been running for well over 120 days now nonstop with out an issue

Re: How to Wire Computer Fan

you can use computer fans they actually move the air perfectly if you position them right .
what you will need is a power adapter in order to run the fan
say like from an old cordless phone or something to that effect .
just strip the ends of the wires on the adapter and the fan and connect them in a proper form and plug it into the wall .

i myself have a incubator i made out of a refrig. and i also use 2 computer fans in it and it works perfectly
I love it when people tell me, "You should think before you speak!" I'm like, "I did. It's what I think and I really don't give a crap what other people think."
