    Exclamation Cruella ran away!

So I fed our babies on Friday and for some reason neglected to latch the top of the cage.. I am certain that I saw her in there yesterday, but today she is nowhere to be found. Thus far I have searched the house high and low (high and low to me that is), and am yet to find her. I have plastic bags lined against the baseboards and in the corners. I've checked the fridge, the stove, the couch, the tv, the bed, the futon, the closets, etc. I have read that you can try tossing a dead rat in a box with a hole just large enough for your snake to enter before eating, then once they've eaten they can't get back out.. Only problem is that I just fed her! I can't believe I forgot to latch the cage! This upcoming wedding is preventing me from thinking straight! Any help you all can offer me would be fantastic.

    Thanks,
    Brett

sorry to hear that and hope she turns up.
Retrace back and think where you would go if you were a snake... She probably hasnt got that far.

    Re: Cruella ran away!

I am sorry to hear about her running away The plastic bags are good so you can hear her moving. If you don't mind the mess, you can line the doorways to the rooms and hiding spots you think she might be in with flour. This way here, she might slither through it and she will leave a trail leading to where she was headed. That could narrow down the search for you.
If you have time, try keeping the house as dark and quiet as possible and just sit there for a bit listening with a flashlight. This isn't always feasible for those short on time though.
Also, you can still do the box thing. Just put some water in it and a heatsource under it in the room you think she is in. Since she just ate, I'm sure she's looking for a warm dark spot and she will eventually be looking for water. Don't forget the bathroom (plug your tub drain if t's big enough for her to squeeze into if she's a baby) and to towel any doors or holes that lead to the outside.

Putting some flour or powder on the floor can help you see where she may have travel, if you have hard flooring.

A warm hide on the floor is a good way too.

I hate tanks the are so easy to make a mistake. Racks are so much easier and safer, good luck.

Keep the toilet seat down may be, incase snakey decides to take a drink and can't get out.

Know exactly how you feel, my yearling corn got out last weekend, tried all the tricks, still no sign of him! good luck in finding him, hope is always there as they can rock up months later.

    Re: Cruella ran away!

When my friends BP disappeared out of her tank, my friend put the heat lamp she was using so it hit the floor (instead of the tank) and the next day her BP was curled up underneath it... It's worth a try

I found her! She was curled up among some books on one of the bookshelves. I don't think I've been that excited in a long time. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
