Talking Pat Goes to Escondido Falls!

Well inspired by a previous thread, I visited Escondido Falls in Malibu today, quite a bit of a hike, just to the trailhead, But it was nice.

Not much rain here recently so the falls, unfortunately were not the most spectacular thing that I have seen, but the Newts made up for it........

This guy was drying up, so I saved him.....playin god is always good for nature isnt it? I just felt bad for the little bugger.

I also saw a snake.....but then lost it in the water...

The Dragon fly larvae were quite impressive as well.

And then leaving the falls, I hear some thuds coming from the brush, low and behold.......A BOX TURTLE!!!! Can someone tell me where in Cali box turtles are found?

Great pictures pat, glad your camera didn't fail after the picture of you at the start

I agree with you, good or not I can't help "playing god" when I see things like that. Cute turtle too!

Pat, your fingernails are so neat and trim. Where do you get them done? Doesn't that make it difficult to handle the reptiles?

Thats what I said. Box Turtles dont even live around here. The three toed box turtle I think is the most western living turtle, and its no further west than Texas....anyone else have input?
