Went to the Taylor Mi Show today
I went to the Taylor Mi show this morning. My intention was to pick up a female Children's python to eventually pair up with my male. Well that fell through because the guy with the Children's Python's didn't make it to the show. So there I was with money that was burning a hole in my pocket at a reptile show. I decided that if I could find a really good deal on a really nice snake I would buy something. So I walked around and saw many nice snakes on different tables. Finally I saw a guy that had a fair number of ball pythons all packed individually in deli cups. All his snakes had price stickers on them (which were pretty good prices) except for about 8 or 9 '08 bright yellow pastels.I had not yet acquired a pastel. His pastels were markedly brighter yellow and cleaner than all the other pastels that I had seen around the show floor. I thought that perhaps he didn't have a price on them because he wanted high dollar for them. Well, it can't hurt to ask right? So I asked about the one that was both the largest and the brightest of his pastels. He responded that it was a female. He asked if I would like to see it. While I was looking at it he told me what price he was asking and it was no higher than what the other people were asking for pastel males. So I took her home with me. Now I have had a problem with posting pictures thus far (I'm not the sharpest microprocessor in the board), but 771subliminal kindly showed me how to do it a few weeks ago. So in the coming week I intend to take pictures of my morphs and try to post them. Did anybody else attend the Taylor Show? Did you buy anything?

Geesh Dale, if I can manage to figure out how to post a picture with my less than stellar computer skills AND my crappy decade old digital camera....well so can you! LOL
I want pictures of the new female pastel buddy boy!
Mike and I didn't make Taylor again this month. Maybe next month if the poop stops hitting in the fan everytime I turn around.
Congrats on the new girlie. Now get with the pictures!

I've really noticed a huge variance in pastels. On one end of the spectrum you have the real dirty ones that look like a high gold/yellow normal with barely a faded head, and then on the other end you have the ones that are blazing yellow, practicaly lemons, with the most fading and blushing ever. Really dependent on selective breeding I guess.

Is it weird that my favorite pastels are the really, really "dirty" ones? The ones that just look like a bright normal. I'd love to get one of those some day, and I'm not even kidding.

Not at all weird. Personal preference and what you like the best is all that really matters.
I would way rather have a mojave than a piebald. It has nothing to do with price. I just like the way mojaves look, and actually don't find piebalds appealing at all. Some might say that's weird, but it doesn't make a difference to me.

Yep. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I didn't care for piebalds at first either but now I like them a lot.
