    Unhappy Bit himself!

Hi! I haven't been here in a while but things have generally been going great until yesterday when I fed my BP.

Right now Im feeding him small rats, perfect size, no lump, etc.

I fed him, and left him alone to eat and go back into his hide, calm down for a few hours but I HAD to change his water. So I went to change it and he came out, ready to eat again. I usually just push his hide back over his head and he snaps out of it. He didnt this time. So I got my tongs and just tried to divert his attention away from my hand while I placed his water dishes back into his cage. I got the first one in ok, but on the second, he flipped out and turned around and bit himself! Luckily I didnt see any blood or anything but this really scared me. I cant give exact temps right now bc I keep him at my BF's house but I have 2 hides, 2 water dishes and a heated side with a UTC and bulb kept at around 85. I thought I rememebered reading about this happening to someone else but that was so long ago that I couldn't find it. Any insight would be great!

If he is still hungry after you feed him maybe you should bump up the size a little - I've always heard there should be a small bump after you feed him.

Anyways - this is the thread you were looking for I believe - http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ight=snake+bit

I forgot to mention i also fed him a mouse after the rat. The rat seems to be the perfect size though, slight lump after he eats it.

I just dont see how he can be hungry after eating those two. Maybe he is... Just odd that he tried to strangle himself.

Are you saying he actually coiled around himself after biting?

Yes.. he did. Not for long but he did, like he mistook himself for food.
